What Is FCC and What Does it Mean To Consumers In The US

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

When Most of us hear "FCC" we think of FCC Censorship of our favorite programming. Back in the day of the Smothers Brothers the FCC Censors would monitor every word said and censored for political and sociable aspects they deemed unfit. For the most part the FCC is more of a regulatory agency than a censor. They still do censor shows like Howard Stern  Do any of us really know the history of the FCC?

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) LINK is an independent United States government agency. The FCC was established by the Communications Act of 1934 and is charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. The FCC jurisdiction covers the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. possessions.

What people may not recognize is the extent to which every area of their life is intertwined with the communications technologies the FCC has the responsibility to regulate. For example, because almost all electrical and electronic equipment emits radio frequencies, FCC equipment authorization rules protect the American public.

eBay Moving Towards Being More Of A E-Commerce Site ?

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Ebay has made lots of changes since Meg Whitman left. Well you ask, "what does this have to do with TVs". The answer is lots. ebay has some of the best deals on the Internet. Including some of the best and newest LCD HDTV Televisions and Home Theater Systems. If you use ebay local search can even pick up a new TV sold on ebay.

Over the last two years eBay has changed there fee structure twice and is doing it again September 16, 2008. Sellers upfront fee's will be lower and the very best sellers will be what the eBay search will show in the results first. Catering to to the most trusted larger companies. These simple changes along with the ones made months ago which included removal of the ability of sellers to leave negative feedback should give buyers more security when purchasing higher end electronics like LCD Flatscreen TVs and Home Theater Systems. eBay has gotten a bad rap in some respects. Most news organizations only do stories about the strang things on ebay like The Governor of Alaska selling the States Broken Down Jet Airliner, or Jesus on toast. Every major manufacturer of Television is represented by trusted electronics sellers with thousands of sold on ebay TVs that are handle securely and safely every year.

Who’s Switching to Satellite TV or Verizon FiOS

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Recently a group of my neighbors and I where out walking out dogs in the morning and on a rare occasion we all landed up at the same corner in the neighborhood. School started so I guess every one's schedule has switched to school mode. Normally walking my dogs is boring and entail lots of commands telling them to slow down. Well anyway we started talking about what each of us had for TV service. We live on a peninsula in the Northeast and can't get any reception with a antenna. Ive been seeing lots of dish's showing up on roofs so I brought that up. 3 of the dog walkers had The Dish Network and said they wouldn't have it any other way. They started talking about the deals they get, like the folk accross the street from me Free DISH Network System Promo. Free Install. Packages starting at $19.99/mo. They seemed very happy and enthusiastic to say the least. Satellite HDTV is awesome.

It was my turn to boast a little. We just switched to Verizon Fios. Ive been using Verizon High Speed Internet for about 3 years and love it. I am able to multitask my blogs and e-commerce sites with no problem. FiOS is Lightning-Fast Broadband Internet Access. They all wondered why I was home all the time and I had to explain about being a webmaster. Which can go on for hours sometimes.
Being so happy with Verizon's Internet, FiOS TV For Just $39.95 a month is the natural next step for me. We are still waiting for installation for the TVs, but my parents have installed Fios and think its much better than cable. My Mom said it popped out of the TV. These are folks in there 70's that just bought there first new TV in 20 years! It is great.

My family and extended family all have major issues with cable. Its a ripe off. For basic cable which is only channels 2 - 21 is like $45.00 and for expanded basic the cost is over $65.00 and that just adds a additional channels 21 - 65. More than half of these channels are useless for most of us, but we need to have the expanded basic in order to get the Weather Channel. We have to have the Weather Channel here on the coast and cable knows it. Almost everyone you talked to is switching to something besides cable TV. Its the perfect time to upgrade TVs and your service before the DTV switch over February 17, 2009.
